Surendra Lawoti: This Country is Yours

SAVAC is proud to be a community partner for Surendra Lawoti’s photographic exhibition at Toronto Image Works, This Country is Yours, a narrative of social and political transformation of Nepal.

This Country is Yours documents and fosters discourse about the collective political struggle of Nepal’s marginalized groups, and the imminent social and political transformation of the country. This on-going and long-term photographic series by Surendra Lawoti focuses on activists of six social and political movements of Nepal, which include: women, indigenous nationalities, Dalits (‘untouchable’ groups), Madeshis (regional minorities from southern plains), the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer community, and religious minorities.
