2016 AGM
Come to SAVAC’s 2016 Annual General Meeting and see what we’ve got coming up this year. Meet the staff, board and members, tell us what we should be doing, tell us about your work, eat, drink, and see some exhibitions at 401 Richmond.
The AGM will start off with a talk from Toronto-based visual artist Basil AlZeri. AlZeri’s practice involves the intersection of art, education, and community engagement, taking multiple forms, such as performance, interventions, gallery and public installation. AlZeri’s work examines the socio-political dynamics of the family and its intersection with cultural practices, drawing on the necessities of everyday life and the visibility of labour as sites of exploration. His work aims to facilitate a space for empathy through gestures of inclusivity and generosity. AlZeri’s work has been shown in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Sackville, Regina, Vancouver, Mexico City, Santiago, and Tartu/Estonia, and he will be one of the artists in residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 2016. Following a similar format that was used to create and present The Death of Performance Art for 7a11d in 2014, Toronto. Basil will spend one minute for each previous/upcoming project, topics of interests, and thoughts for a total of 30 minutes.
Childcare will be provided with notification 48-hours prior to the event, via phone or email. 401 Richmond St. W is an accessible building (contact us for specific requests).
